6 of the coolest things we’ve seen at New York Toy Fair!

We’re currently in New York exhibiting at the annual NY Toy Fair. When we’re not talking to visitors about our amazing kits and exciting plans for the future, we’ve been exploring and taking in some of the other awesome exhibitors.

Check out 6 of the coolest things we’ve seen so far:

Kid O My Land car

Kid O

We love these intuitive and beautifully designed STEM toys for two year olds and over. They encourage learning and creativity through play, engaging children from a young age with simple, gender-neutral situation and characters.

– New Sphero products

After the massive success of the Sphero BB-8 (winner of the Toy Fair award for #1 Selling US Toy in the category of youth electronics), everyone is waiting to see what the Colorado-based company come up with next.

We spent some time at their stand seeing what 2016 has in store – check out the video:

Remember the Marble Run sets of the 90s? They were great for problem-solving skills, challenged your imagination and encouraged logical-reasoning—everything we want from 21st century play!

We met the guys from Tinkineer, a young company designing a range of Marbleocity products that expand on the classic Marble Run principles, adding in STEM-based learning on subjects such as the conservation of energy. Plus, you can build your own rollercoaster!

Check out our video below which features an interview with them.

Smart Plush

We got to know our neighbouring booth: two entrepreneurs from California who have developed a range of plush toys which incorporate accelerometers. Kids (age 5 and over) can interact with their cuddly toys in brand new ways—check out our interview in the video above.

Laser Pegs

STEM toys and sets once again had a huge presence at this fair. We love the massive range and accessibility of Laser Pegs—a brick-world of models and inventions with motors, lights and much more. These products are another great example of open-ended, creative play.

– All your favourite characters—bigger than ever!

As always, the world of licensed toys, figurines and collectibles is getting bigger and bigger. From Star Wars to Frozen, the world’s largest toy companies continue to capitalise on our love of recognisable characters and omnipresent brands.
