High Tech at Bistrotheque

Thursday 10th February

Thanks to many of you for joining us at Kinetica this past weekend! It was truly fantastic to meet you all. We have plenty of very exciting classes and plans in the works. Read on to find out more.

Upcoming Classes
We’re sure you all know that our mission is to help people to produce and not just consume technology. In line with this, we will be hosting two different weekend workshops in February and March, with our friends at The School of Life. We are thrilled to be collaborating with them! Places are limited and going fast, so please sign up soon or forward this to anyone you think might be interested. We would love to see some of you there.

The workshops are called: High Tech at Bistrotheque, and each will be a full day of making, discussion and inspiration around the role of technology in our lives and how we can make more out of it. These workshops will be held at the lovely Bistrotheque Restaurant in Hackney – and will include a fantastic lunch.

Digital Creatures – Saturday, 19th February
This is an introduction to the inspiring and creative world of digital electronics and programming. Attendees will tinker, hack and solder their way to a new understanding of technology and what is actually possible. The day will include hands on making, discussion and a delicious lunch.

DIY speakers – Saturday, 26th March
This is a get-your-hands-dirty-with-analog-electronics-day! You will learn about the flow of electrons and the incredible results that can be achieved by bending them to your will. In this case, we will use them to convert electricity to sound – and create speakers out of any surface. The day will also include hands on making, discussion and a delicious lunch.

Get involved! Propose a class or become a teacher
We would love your ideas for classes, events or people that could help us do more. We have already received some great ideas and interest but would welcome your thoughts. What should we be teaching? Who should be teaching with us? What kinds of talks, events or services would you like? We want to enable people to be more creative with the technology in their lives and help inspire new uses for those gathering dust. Email us at info@technologywillsaveus.org with your thoughts.

As always, there is much more to come as we continue to develop this exciting platform for 21st century makers. Stay in touch by subscribing to our mailing list (linked on the left of this page). You’ll receive updates on membership, events, lectures, and courses. You can also follow us on twitter @techwillsaveus

Thank you!
